Java plum (Jamun)

Java plum, also known as Syzygium cumini, is a tropical fruit tree native to the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. It is also known by other names such as black plum, jamun, jambul, or Indian blackberry. The tree produces small, dark purple to black fruits that have a sweet, tangy flavor.

The fruit is oval or oblong in shape and contains a single large seed. It is often eaten fresh, and its juice is used in beverages, jams, and desserts. Java plum is rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and is also known for its potential medicinal properties, particularly in traditional medicine for managing blood sugar levels.

The tree itself can grow quite tall, reaching up to 50 feet (15 meters), and has a dense canopy of glossy, green leaves. It produces fragrant white or greenish-yellow flowers that develop into the fruit. Java plum trees thrive in warm, humid climates and can adapt to a variety of soil types.
